The Five Cities Orchid Society, founded in June, 1990, is an affiliate of the American Orchid Society and meets the second Thursday of each month, 7:30 p.m., at the Arroyo Grande Woman's Community Center, 211 Vernon St., Arroyo Grande, California.

The purpose of this society is to provide members with knowledge of orchid culture and habitats, to enable them to grow orchids well in their home environments and share their passion for orchids with other members and societies.

Meetings provide members with guest speakers, demonstrations, show & tell and plant opportunity tables. Monthly news bulletins give members plant tips and a listing of many California orchid shows.

The Five Cities Orchid Society sponsors the Central Coast Orchid Show and Sale each spring at Arroyo Grande's South County Regional Center, which gives members the opportunity to exhibit their plants in the society's display for judging by the American Orchid Society.
